- Received
permit for Oak Street Pedway Corrective Action
Plan Project from St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD).
Placed legal advertisement giving notice of permit issuance as required by
the SJRWMD.
- Met
with Civil Service Board to present applicants recommended as finalists
for the Police Chief position. The four (4) applicants selected for the
assessment center and interviews are as follows:
John Cory – Former Police Chief; Hammond,
IN
Richard Harrison – Former Police
Chief – Miami Shores
and Sunny Isles
Beach; currently
residing in North Carolina.
Gerald Kreiner
– Former Commander – Maryland State Police; currently residing in Port
Orange, FL
Victor Neal – Former Captain; Winter
Haven, FL
The assessment center is scheduled
for May 16th, with Town Manager interviews May 17th. A
“Meet the Candidates” night will be held in the Community Center at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17th to
provide an opportunity for residents to meet the candidates being considered
for this position.
- Attended
Sea Turtle-Friendly Lighting seminar on Saturday, April 28th as
conducted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to provide
information to Town residents regarding appropriate lighting for beach
front residences.
- Attended
Visioning Meeting to review the draft goals and objectives developed from
previous visioning sessions.
- Attended
Board of Adjustment meeting to consider:
- Special
exception and variance application for the proposed Walgreen’s. (Special
exception application – denied, variance application withdrawn.)
- Special
exception application for Sand on the Beach restaurant. (Continued until May 24, 2007 for applicant to
provide additional information.)
- Appeal
of administrative decision related to steeple for Saint Sebastian’s
Episcopal Church. (Appeal denied)
- Scheduled
scoping meeting as required by Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) for
Monday, May 7th at 10:00 a.m.
This meeting provides all adjoining governmental jurisdiction and affected
organizations/agencies an opportunity to identify issues that Melbourne
Beach may need to address in
the EAR.
